The IJC is seeking one Jewish man and one Jewish woman to join the Chevra Kadisha, which we share with our friends at Beth Hillel.
The Chevra Kadisha (literally 'Holy Society') performs one of the most sacred and selfless responsibilities in Jewish life: preparing those who have passed away with dignity, respect, and love, according to our Jewish tradition. This mitzvah is considered chesed shel emet – a true act of kindness, given without expectation of return.
New members are always guided and supported by experienced volunteers. You will never be asked to step in alone, and training is provided with sensitivity and care.
If you feel ready to take part in this quiet but deeply meaningful mitzvah, or if you would simply like to learn more about what is involved, please contact Rabbi Brian (rabbi@ijc.be)
