A delicious lunch was provided by Chantal and Zoe her daughter, along with a sumptuous selection of cakes without which no Jewish event would be complete. Several volunteers were on hand to help with serving and clearing up. A big thanks to them all.

Here is Golan’s stepping down speech given at the luncheon: 'This is a meaningful moment for me to announce that I am stepping down from the administrative role at an event where founders and long time IJC members got together again. We sometimes tend to take things for granted, but it's been through determination and commitment that this community has been there to welcome newcomers to Belgium and make them feel at home, and it has definitely been meaningful to me.

I also mention that there have been some attempts to turn IJC into a political battlefield, that we have enough challenges to deal with, and that IJC should remain a warm and caring community. Divisive contentions should channel themselves elsewhere.

Lastly, I want to thank Rabbi Brian with whom it has been a pleasure to work, and Anu and Bill for "adopting" me into the administration role and for their continuous investment in the community. We haven't had a proper opportunity to express our gratitude and I hope we will manage to do it soon.'

The lunch was a great initiative and definitely worth repeating!
