Ohel Yachdav - OY! for short - is an independent, non-denominational, egalitarian havurah serving as a space for Jews and their Jewish/non-Jewish partners and friends in and around Leuven and its university. It's goal is to be a place/community of welcome for Jews passing through Leuven for longer and shorter periods of time and a Jewish home for Jewish students, researchers, professors...
We have monthly Kabbalat Shabbat services (including ma’ariv when we have a minyan), candle lighting, kiddush and Shabbat Dinner, and organize occasional havdalah services with dinner at a member's homes where we explore alternative tefillah. We also try to mark as many festivals as possible – including the smaller ones – with study, tefillah and, of course, food.
Ohel Yachdav functions independently, but the IJC remains its community of reference especially for major festivals, adult education/conversion programmes, Hebrew School etc.
Ohel Yachdav events are open to everyone from the IJC. Take a look at our website ohelyachdav.be where events are posted and feel free to subscribe to our email list.
