The IJC Teen Group for 13-18 year-olds is a social high point for our teens. Together with our sister congregation, Beth Hillel, and with the support and guidance of two wonderful madrichim (youth group leaders) the Teen Group plan their own events and manage their group. Not only do they have a great time at the monthly events, but they also learn vital life skills and gain important leadership experience. They plan social events as well as events focused on tikkun olam, making the world a better place, and events with a particularly Jewish focus.
The multi-cultural nature of the group adds a special flavour to everything they do, a spice that further enhances the vibrant, welcoming and inclusive environment.
The IJC rabbi is very engaged in the program providing support to the madrichim.
Children who celebrate their bat or bar mitzvah at the IJC receive a free one year membership to the teen group. The teens themselves set the membership dues and the fees for programs, which are open to members and non-members alike.
