Tot Shabbat

We are delighted to announce a new Tot Shabbat group this fall at the IJC that will meet during some of the Shabbat mornings and holiday mornings. Ilana Sumka who has a four-year-old son invites you to bring your baby or toddler to join together in the IJC community.  Please do plan to join your child; this is not a Hebrew School class in which kids can be dropped off but rather a co-organized gathering for kids plus a parent or grandparent.

Please write to to let us know if you’re interested in Tot Shabbat, with the name and age of your child(ren) and your name.  We understand that family schedules can change week-to-week, so you don’t need to commit to every gathering now.  By sending in your name, you let us know who is out there who might participate on any given date.  Details below.

We are looking forward to starting the new year together.  For those who can make it we encourage you to join us for the first Shabbat of the year on Saturday September 9.

Together, we will:

  • Sing Hebrew Songs
  • Get to know each other and be in a Jewish community together
  • Learn about Shabbat and Holiday rituals corresponding to the month with stories and toys (i.e. challah, Torah, Shofar, sukkah, etc.)
  • Do a Shabbat or holiday themed arts & crafts activity
  • Share a Shabbat snack, brought by parents (cut up fruit, cut up vegies, crackers, cookies)

Each Tot Shabbat session will be 5 euros to cover costs of materials, payable to the IJC at the end of December based on the number of sessions joined.  Please write to to RSVP.
